Obsession

The least believable part of this is that Bear would make the choice to kill himself-- he was too selfish. Then again, he did try to vomit it back up before Nikki made her wish.

When I saw Weapons in theaters, I was shocked by the amount of people laughing at scenes that seemed horrifying to me. I can imagine if I saw this in theaters, it would be a lot worse. I am sure media-illiterate men will read this as a "bitches be crazy" movie, but Bear is evil (hyperbole, probably). This was solidified when real Nikki called out to him while wish Nikki was asleep. His response, "is it really so bad to be with me," was the most chilling line in the entire film.

Even though this movie was from Bear's point of view, from my viewing perspective, this was Nikki's movie. I was invested in the story because I was invested in her. It was so upsetting to to see her trapped in her body in a place where she has no autonomy. The most interesting moments are when we see Bear fully face the fact that he is taking advantage of her, and then decide to keep going. His utter lack of care and concern for the living things around him (his cat, Nikki, his coworkers), could be written off early on as benign, but it showed to be apart of his true character. I wish there was more about his inner world and Nikki's, but still a great movie.
